🌟SHOWCASE SATURDAY🌟 I truly wish I could say that this was my front door and my dog, but it isn’t. This is the beautiful home (and handsome Dexter) of @ourlittlechurchcottage I love Clare’s style and we’ve certainly had many a discussion about the bodge jobs that previous owners leave for you. One I’ll never forget is where the previous owner had plastered over a beam in their bathroom and then did a ‘wood effect’. Why!? 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ Needless to say, this home is being truly cared for now and is keeping my desire for a cottage strong. Dexter is also the best model and always makes me want a Dalmatian too!! The kitchen is more oiled up than a swimwear model and it’s looking gooood 💁🏼‍♀️ As always, completely unrelated to the picture but this reminds me that my bedroom will be tidy again soon! Morning! I realise some of you may have seen this before but it’s a picture of me without grout ridden fingernails, so here we are 💅🏻 There have been new followers recently and so I thought I’d introduce myself... Hi 👋🏻 my name is Lydia and I live here with my husband, the lesser seen Mr S. He’s the real professional around here and I try and bring a bit of glamour to the team during fireplace restoration, tiling, grouting and painting humongously high ceilings with looooong poles! I’m struggling my way through ‘adulting’ and just about keeping the house plants alive (there hasn’t been a death in the last 6 months - so far so good!) I’m a Cheshire lass originally but relocated to Lancashire and, due to some annoying food intolerances, my favourite food is anything I can fill my face with and gin (I know that’s a drink but you garnish it with fruit so it’s basically one of your five a day). Ok, I feel like I’m blabbering now so tell me more about you - location, favourite food, pet hates (Oooh love those!) Can you keep house plants alive etc?! My hands and nails have an interesting hue today after grouting the tiles last night. I’m going to see how many handshakes I can avoid! Definitely need to get a manicure, facial and massage booked in following this kitchen 🤦🏼‍♀️💁🏼‍♀️ The third fireplace in the little tour is this one in our living room. We haven’t touched this room since we moved in (there are plans afoot, but come on Lydia just focus 🙈) other than install a wood burner here. For some reason the previous owner thought that it would be great to install a gas fire wood burner lookalike?! Bizarre but seeing some of the other things they’ve done, it’s not surprising!! Old houses seem to thrive on the heat of a real fire so we are so pleased we have it now because it’s super toasty. We did get the chimneys swept before we had it fitted too - swipe to see the carnage that came out of the fireplace upstairs. There were pants there too. Two pairs. Yesterday began “Project Get The Dining Room Back”. The kitchen is in but it’s all those little jobs - kinda like those sliding puzzle games where you have to move one square before you can move the other, and ON AND ON it goes. I’ll be fun company this week! Anyway, back to fireplaces. Here’s the fireplace in the guest bedroom. This is more of a budget approach since I spray painted this one with @makeitrustoleum spray paint. Would I do it again? Probably as this bedroom needed to be decorated quickly. Morning! Did you have a lovely weekend? We had a chilled one with friends but the lurgy has hit so I’m going to be making my way through Monday relying on lots of honey and lemon. I’ve decided I’m going to talk to you about my fireplaces 💁🏼‍♀️😂 First up is the fireplace in the master bedroom. I knew that I wanted to make a feature of the fireplace when we redecorated, which meant that we had to change the layout of the room as I didn’t want the bed blocking view of it when you walked in. Swipe to see what it looked like before. I used Peelaway to strip off layers of gloss paint and then used Liberon Iron Paste to really make it shine.
